We're growing

The Blue Bell is managed by a volunteer Committee and a committed team of volunteers and paid staff.

With pubs closing at a truly worrying rate at the moment, that team is doing incredible work continuing to develop the important role of the Blue Bell in the community.

As the Blue Bell Cafe and Pub continues to grow as a community hub, we will be looking for more volunteers and paid staff. Both types of work with the Blue Bell are hugely rewarding and offer the chance to use your experience and skills and to develop new ones.

Consider volunteering.

  • It's not just shifts in the café and pub, behind the bar, serving and cleaning up. We could also use marketing expertise, garden and building maintenance and event management experience. It's great fun and you will make some brilliant new friends.

  • Over time we are slowly creating more paid roles. But we will be leaning heavily on volunteers for a little while longer.

  • Drop us a line on the Contact page to get started!

We're recruiting to a new, full time paid role

Front of House Manager

This is a full-time role that includes managing the entire front of house operation with paid staff and enthusiastic volunteers as well as significant shifts behind the bar.

It is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid experience in hospitality to put themselves at the heart of a community and the life of the village.

The Blue Bell has been community-owned since 2021 and, after a full year of renovations, opened as a cafe and pub in summer 2022. We've grown successfully through what has been a very challenging period for all hospitality businesses. Now we are ready to take the next step by appointing our first full time Front of House Manager to continue to develop the services that we offer Stoke Ferry and the surrounding villages.

The job description is available here. If you can offer the warmest of welcomes to regulars and newcomers to our beautiful country pub and give them a brilliant experience of community and hospitality, we would love to hear from you.

Deadline for applications: 21st September 2024

Interviews will be held week commencing 23rd September 2024
